SocBiN

Aims

Aim and scope

Bioinformatics emerged rapidly in the Nordic countries across both academia and companies. To strengthen contacts between bioinformaticians in the region, groups from CBS in Denmark and Stockholm University organised Bioinformatics ’99. During that meeting, future Nordic conferences were discussed and it became clear that there was a need for a formal society that could organise them.

The aim of SocBiN is to promote bioinformatics activities across the Nordic countries, including the Baltic states and Poland. A central task of the society is to support a yearly conference that moves between countries in the region.

The society also aims to maintain an active interaction with ISCB, the International Society for Computational Biology.
