Speakers for Bioinformatics Conference 2006 August/September we will start inviting speakers for next years conference.

As regards poster session at next years conference Jens suggested to arrange 2 poster sessions this can be organized and since our meeting I have organized poster space in the conference area for all 4 days. During the poster sessions refreshments will be served.

Promotion of Bioinformatics Conference

The number of participants has decreased recent years. This year in Estonia only 165 attended. This is very disappointing especially since the scientific programme was very good.

Discussion about what can be done to increase the number of participants in the Bioinformatics Conference. A PR effort is needed. As regards next years conference a number of 1st Announcements have been sent to the organizers of ISMB Conference, 25-29 June 2005 and announcements will also be distributed at the MBBC 2005, 22-26 June Molde, Norway and at other conferences during autumn 2005/spring 2006. Moreover, we will advertise for the conference in Nature this is expensive, but money worth offering.

Jens suggested to "Go European", an idea supported by the meeting participants. This could be done e.g. by involving Germans in the programme committee.

Inge suggested combining the Bioinformatics Conference with the ECCB conference, but this idea was not supported.

As regards opening up for paper submission from others than the invited speakers this idea was not supported either, because it may weaken the quality of the papers presented.
